The Swiss Made AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master is the latest EMS innovation for the “Guided Biofilm Therapy”: a unique solution for caries, periodontal prevention and maintenance. It is now considered the gold standard for hygiene treatments.
What is Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)?
Guided Biofilm Therapy is a systematic and advanced way to approach dental hygiene by using state of the art AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW® and PIEZON® technologies. It changes the more conventional approach of dental hygiene treatment by removing the biofilm (bacteria/plaque) before removing calculus (tartar).
This involves several stages:
- Assess the mouth to identify areas of concern
- Disclose the teeth with a dye to highlight any areas where there is biofilm
- Discuss homecare methods that will effectively disrupt the biofilm
- Disrupt the biofilm using the AIRFLOW® and remove any calculus using the PIEZON®
- Check that all calculus has been removed
- Recall as required
The AIRFLOW® uses warm water heated to between 25 and 40 o C. The water contains Erythritol powder, which helps to prevent tooth decay and reduces the production of plaque so it keeps on working even after you have left the practice.
In 95% of cases no pain has been reported therefore GBT is particularly effective and safe to use around sensitive teeth, crowns, orthodontic appliances, bridges and implants. The Erythritol powder is particularly effective at removing staining and discolouration from smoking, red wine, tea and coffee, and keeps your teeth stain-free for longer. A separate polish is not needed.
